Busy days on the farms! There are sugar snap peas, lettuce, broccoli, kale, collards, strawberries and more available for harvest at the farms now. Given the lack of recent rainfall, we need at least one inch per week for established vegetables, a lot of our farm tasks will involve watering for the next week at least.
Baby chicks are at Fehr Farm! Watch them on instagram here.
Tomorrow, Saturday, June 18 Open Hours for work at Fehr Ave Farm and Vale Farm from 8am-12noon. At Vale we will be working on the Rabbit Run and we are on the Soroptimist garden tour, so we may have additional visitors. Our farms are closed Monday for the Juneteenth holiday. Animals and potted plants will still be checked on and cared for Sunday and Monday.
Tuesday, June 28 from 3-6PM Vale Farm will host the SiCM Summer Meals kickoff! Cycle Schenectady will be there with a bike rodeo. There will be food and some community organizations will table as well. If you are available, we’d love for farm members to be there as well! After that both Vale and Fehr will be summer lunch sites through August, for children in Schenectady to get a lunch to eat at the farm.
