Support SiCM

SiCM is financially supported by a broad range of congregations (member and non-member), religious organizations, individuals, government grants, United Way, matching funds (GE and others), foundations, and fundraising efforts.

Support is welcome for specific initiatives or where most needed/general support. If you would like to support a specific initiative (e.g. Pantry, Summer Meals, Urban Farms, etc.), please be sure to indicate that with your donation.

You can mail a check or money order to

Did you know that you can make a nontaxable contribution to SiCM with a QCD? A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) is a nontaxable distribution from your IRA made directly to an eligible charity like SiCM. How does a QCD help you? QCDs count toward your required minimum distribution for the year and you avoid paying income tax on the distributions. For more information please contact the business manager, Mark DeSanctis, at (518) 374-2683 x 105.

Attention GE Matching Donors:

Help SiCM by matching gifts

The most recent SiCM newsletter did not make fully clear the process of GE matching gifts.  To clarify: these donors qualify to have their donations matched by the GE Foundation. The only catch is that the donors must initiate the match and contact the Foundation in order for SiCM to receive those funds.

Also, the GE match applies to gifts of $25 and over; however, the $25 can be cumulative, i.e. more than one gift.  The donor then contacts the GE Foundation either by telephone (800-305-0669) or the GE Foundation website www.ge.com/foundation/employee_programs/.  Your gift and GE match are important:  for example, every $1 given buys 6.25 lbs. of food for the SiCM food pantry.

Please call the SiCM Business Office if you have any questions about your GE match or would like information on the matching process.

SiCM is blessed with the benefit of having so many donors who are GE employees and retirees!

Attention State and Federal Government Employees!

You can choose to donate to SiCM through your employer! SEFA and CFC were established to provide a system that encourages choice by offering you the opportunity to choose where your money goes and also to offer the convenience of payroll deduction.

United Way of the Greater Capital Region (UWGCR) is the campaign manager and fiduciary, and also beneficiary of the State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA)and the Capital Region’s Combined Federal Campaign (CFC).

To set up the payroll deduction option, select SiCM through your employer, with the designated number, as follows:

  • New York State Employees: SEFA #50-00396
  • US Government Employees: CFC #41449

Thank you for choosing SiCM
