Healthy Homes - Healthy People

Healthy Homes - Healthy People is a three-year environmental justice project funded by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. Led by Nancy Peterson (delegate from the Unitarian Society of Schenectady) and Allison Williams (the project's Community Outreach Educator), the project is addressing multiple environmental risks by educating inner-city residents about the identification and proper disposal of common household hazardous wastes - and suggesting and encouraging the use of alternative products.  A Policy Advisory Committee, including representatives from SICM, Schenectady County, the Unitarian Society's Green Sanctuary Committee and the community meets regularly to share ideas, solve problems and brain storm.
