Healthy Homes - Healthy People
Healthy Homes - Healthy People is a three-year environmental justice project fun
ded by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. Led by Nancy Peterson (delegate from the Unitarian Society of Schenectady) and Allison Williams (the project's Community Outreach Educator), the project is addressing multiple environmental risks by educating inner-city residents about the identification and proper disposal of common household hazardous wastes - and suggesting and encouraging the use of alternative products. A Policy Advisory Committee, including representatives from SICM, Schenectady County, the Unitarian Society's Green Sanctuary Committee and the community meets regularly to share ideas, solve problems and brain storm.
Allison and Nancy are available to do educational presentations for adults and children and/or set up information tables. Please call 518-258-4846 for more information or to schedule.
On Saturday, June 25, from 10 am to 2 pm, Healthy Homes-Healthy People will host our second Collection Day in the parking lot of SICM's Emergency Food Pantry – 839 Albany Street in Schenectady. For information, please call 518-258-4846.
