                                                                                                February, 2011

Dear Friends,

            I am writing to invite you to the 2011 CROP Walk.

If you were among the 500+ who took part last year, thank you!  If you did, you know it is a celebration to fight hunger here and overseas.  It is also a great time for families, congregations, etc. to come together.  While it is an important event, if you have taken part you know it is also a festive time.

            I hope you will participate in this year’s event on Sunday, May 1.  The walk is held in the early afternoon and again will start and end at Emmanuel Friedens Church, 218 Nott Terrace in Schenectady.  (For those in congregations, the date is more challenging this year in that Easter is the week before.)  There are several ways to be involved:

-mark the date and plan to take part;
-bring others with you and/or bring a team
-be a recruiter for your group, congregation, etc

            Recruiters are those who engage others to take part, distribute and then receive back the walk materials.  Congregations and groups are urged to have more than one recruiter.  If you are willing to be a recruiter, or designate a person or persons to be a recruiter, you/they are invited to the Recruiters’ Workshop which will be Tuesday, March 15, 5:30 to 7 PM at Emmanuel Friedens Church, 218 Nott Terrace in Schenectady.  (The snow date is the parallel date one week later...hopefully not needed).  We will have a light supper first and then will share information and stories for this year’s celebration.

            Thanks to your support, our community provides a common witness and provides real help to fight hunger here and overseas.

Sincerely,

(Rev.) Phillip N. Grigsby
for the CROP Steering Committee

P.S.  All are welcome to join the CROP Steering Committee (we have relatively few meetings and while we work hard at the same time we enjoy it…)
